Mayacama Golf ClubSanta Rosa, Calif.
When commercial real estate developer David A Wilhelm purchased 675 acres of, oak studded acreage for the Mayacama golf club in the heart of the picturesque Sonoma wine country near Windsor California he also envisioned an incomparable vintner and lodging venture. Great Golf and Fine WineWhat Makes Cowichan Valley, BC, Wineries Special?Bob WeisgerberThe Cowichan is one of the "hot spots of viticulture in the "Wine Islands" To answer that question it’s easy to take a short cut and simply say "the wine!" And that’s true because the wines created here are among the tastiest, smoothest, most enjoyable I’ve sampled—and drank—anywhere. But there’s more to it than that.

Poppy Ridge Golf Course is a familiar destination for Northern California Golfers, one of two courses owned and operated by the NCGA, the Northern California Golf Association. Golfers are aware that Poppy Ridge offers 27 spectacular holes of challenge (or pain if the wind mills on the nearby ridge are churning). Depending on the combined nines on a given day, you will be reminded that you are in wine country by the names of the nines: Chardonnay, Merlot, and Zinfandel. Seattle’s New "Underground Secret" –Golf is now DowntownThe Hotel 1000 Golf Club, Upscale Hotel, Near Pike Place MarketBob Weisgerber
I know what you’ll do when you visit Seattle—in the morning you’ll visit Pike Place Market to watch fish mongers toss salmon around, not unlike. teenage ball players in spring training. You’ll watch them play until someone drops a fish and everybody laughs. Then you’ll stroll a few blocks down the First Avenue hill to the Hotel 1000, where you’ll have some fun of your own. In the June issue of Golf Today Magazine, (www.golftodaymagazine.com) we wrote about the wonderful city of Victoria BC on Vancouver Island. We told about the Wine Islands of which Vancouver Island is one, and we introduced you to two fine golf courses just a few minutes outside the city. Those golf courses were the beautiful and fun Olympic View Golf and Country Club and the Nicklaus designed, challenging Bear Mountain Golf and Country Club. That was Part 1. This is Part 2. Lake Hiawatha muni, then the TPCby Dale Archibald, RVGolfer columnist
After a week of turbulent weather, with rain, hail, and assorted sundries, my two coworkers and I showed up at Hiawatha Golf Course Sat. June 2, 2007, wearing weather-resistant outfits. So, naturally, the sun shone steadily throughout our round. Hiawatha is a gem in the Minneapolis Park system, and the park system overall is a winner. It was created by immigrants from the New England area, who believed a park system was necessary for mental health, and were willing to pay for it. THE GOLF EXPLORERBayonet Front NineBy Hal GevertzSeaside at Monterey Bay, CA May 3, 2007 When I originally wrote a story for The San Mateo Times Group Newspapers in August of 1977 on the Fort Ord Golf Course, its property near Seaside, CA was a 100% military base. I had to have a visitor’s pass to play the course. At that time the Monterey Peninsula and Del Monte properties were in drought conditions and on strict water rationing. I played the beautifully conditioned Bayonet course one August morning and found not a brown blade of grass because of its own wells and the use of recycled waters.
