Bob Koczor has worked at publishing his own newspapers and magazines for the past 46 years. Prior to owning Golf Today Magazine, and serving as Publisher/Editor, he owned Longitude 122 for 14 years, and from 1968 through 1982, he co-owned and then sold three very successful newspapers, the Millbrae Sun-Leader newspapers, and the Burlingame Leader newspaper. Prior to that, Bob served four years in the Marine Corps, and was honorably discharged full of energy an enthusiasm which took him to Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo where he obtained his Journalism Degree in 2.5 years (10 straight quarters) while working a full-time shift at Atascadero State Hospital at which, after his work was done, he got to do his studies.
Koczor then raced up to Berkeley, CA where he was accepted into a coveted Master´s Program in Journalism....yes, right during the rioting years with helicopters overhead and tear gas causing all sorts of air pollution. Working as a journalist, however, was his key to his happiness, so he applied himself as a writer and Administrative Aide to John Chuck Erreca and Milton Marks in their political campaigns where he learned the downsides and upsides of politics firsthand for two years. This experience, notwithstanding an open-ended credit card for all expenses, made Koczor realize that it was writing and publishing that he wanted for the rest of his life. Publishing is his lifelong professional enjoyment, made all the more enjoyable because he has always been blessed with the finest of staff members at all his publications.
Besides the 21 years of Golf Today Magazine, published 12 times per year, Koczor manages four Golf Today golf tournaments per year, and can be seen as a cat on a hot tin roof at all the major golf shows at Golf Today´s booths, including the two major PGA Shows and most of the golf consumer shows in the West. Koczor is now in his 66th year of life, hasn´t slowed down except when it comes to walking golf courses, and is looking for that alter ego partner to learn the publishing business and take Golf Today Magazine into other states so that he can play a bit more golf than he does at present.
